Farmer & Frenchman is committed to using local tri-state products and sourcing many ingredients from KY Proud Producers. Quality ingredients used in many dishes also come from Farmer & Frenchman’s very own Kitchen Garden. The Kitchen Garden is maintained by owner Katy Groves-Mussat and she is often accompanied by her children who love helping in the garden. The first time Katy began the F&F garden she started small and it flourished. This year, Katy has twice as many tomato plants and that she has big plans for them in the kitchen.

Other plants that can be found growing in the garden are squash, cucumbers, peppers, sage, rosemary, dill, parsley, oregano, and more. Around the garden, Katy also includes several flower plants which invite pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds to stop by for a visit. In fact, the swallowtail caterpillars are attracted to dill and parsley. Katy mentioned that she plants extra parsley just for the caterpillars, so that later the vineyard is filled with swallowtail butterflies. Flowers grown in the garden also are used in bouquets in the cafe during the summer. Katy encourages guests to take a look at the garden during their next visit so they can have a sneak peak at where some of their food comes from.
